Dangers of truck driver fatigue

Every day transport trucks deliver thousands of goods to stores all across the U.S. We might not think about how many hours these goods take to reach our favorite stores. The truth is, truck drivers have to spend several hours behind the wheel to transport these goods. Drivers who spend hours on the road may suffer from fatigue, especially if they are not well rested or sleep deprived.

Consequences of a hit-and-run accident

A hit-and-run scenario occurs when the guilty driver leaves the scene without providing any assistance or contact information at the time of the incident. This is a punishable offense, especially if the damages are serious. If the driver flees the scene, regardless of whether the accident happened on the highway or public road, it still counts as a hit-and-run. A driver hitting an unattended or parked car and leaving without identifying himself is also an example of a hit-and-run case.

Proving your case in a truck accident

Truck accidents can be catastrophic in nature. The huge size and weight of the truck poses a potential risk when on the road, as other automobiles are much smaller in size. In case of a mishap, consequences might be deadly. Thus, special care should be practiced whether you're the driver of the truck or a nearby passenger car.

Can a pedestrian be held liable for an accident?

Pedestrians are extremely vulnerable in traffic situations, this is why motorists are expected to yield to them when they are crossing the road. In most pedestrian-motorist accidents, the blame falls on the motorist. However, "contributory negligence" is a doctrine that details that pedestrians may also be held liable for a road accident.
