Standing With You

Wednesday evening traffic on the Will Rogers Turnpike turned into a disaster when a man driving a semi truck led officers on a chase after flipping his rig. Now a Texas semi truck driver faces charges of DUI, assaulting an officer and carjacking after the series of events that led to two semi truck accidents and a number of assaults.

After a 30-mile chase, Oklahoma Highway Patrol authorities arrested a Texas man for allegedly driving under the influence of a drug cocktail commonly called an X pill. According to authorities, the impaired truck driver lost control of his semi truck, flipping it off an exit ramp. A passing truck driver stopped to assist the man when he was assaulted by the drugged driver and thrown to the ground. The impaired driver then stole the good Samaritan’s semi truck and continued traveling down the highway.

When Highway Patrol spotted the semi truck, it was reportedly swerving across all lanes of traffic. Authorities attempted to stop the semi truck with stop strips that shredded several of the semi’s tires. However, the semi truck driver refused to stop for authorities. After several miles and the near miss of a disabled vehicle, the semi truck came to a stop.

When the semi truck driver was apprehended, he admitted to taking several illegal substances including cocaine, methamphetamine, and Ecstasy. This combination is known to authorities as an X pill and can severely impair an individual.

Although the semi truck driver was apprehended before causing a serious accident, the combination of illegal drugs and a speeding semi truck could have been catastrophic to other drivers. The consequences of this man’s actions could’ve been disastrous. Fortunately, his actions will only affect him. For individuals that have been affected by the negligence of semi truck drivers, speaking to a personal injury attorney may help.
